With this, we have more people around us who are happy with their plastic surgery results and people who aren´t happy with the results. Having so many factors in plastic surgery that affects the final result, sometimes even a great result in a surgical sense doesn´t fit well into the patient´s expectations. This is what separates the plastic surgeons from other surgeons; a plastic surgeon should listen to his/her patients like a psychologistto be able to fully understand their expectations and even try to convince them not to have the surgery if they are not suitable for it.

The most important factor in achieving this goal is keeping the communication between surgeon and patient as transparent, realistic and positive. The better you communicate your expectations to you surgeon, the happier you will be with the final result.

We, plastic surgeons, go through a long and difficult academic and practical study to achieve this title because plastic surgery is one of the most difficult branches of medicine, combining science and art. In Turkey, plastic surgery knowledge and its ethical values are gained during this academic process, it can´t be learned afterwards by not specialized medical doctors. This is why aesthetic surgeries should be carried out by plastic surgeons only.

Media and marketing plays a big role in today´s plastic surgery. Some treatments can be advertised widely in media but it doesn´t mean that they are realistic and effective treatments. You should try to avoid these treatments by consulting your plastic surgeon first and understand them fully. Before deciding on a procedure, you should always questions if that procedure is scientific and ethical.
